It all started when...

Mhand & Shiraz first met in Taghazout way back in 2014.

And the seeds of Amayour started …

We opened Amayour in 2015 when Shiraz, a former London-based DOP camera woman, moved to Taghazout with Mhand, a local surf instructor from Tamri, and we combined our passions for surfing, soulful travel, and community. What started as a simple surf hostel. grew into a family-run collection of coastal retreats - each space rooted in connection, culture, and a deep love for Morocco.

We started our project from the ground up with nothing more than a couple of months’ rent and tenacity, and have been growing this little project since, from little seeds, big trees grow. Together with our children and an incredible team of locals and internationals, we have created warm, welcoming homes for travellers seeking more than just surf. Amayour - meaning “full moon” in the Amazigh language- reflects our commitment to soulful living, slow travel, and authentic experiences.

The heart of Amayour is our incredible team - locals and internationals who bring the spaces to life with knowledge, laughter, dancing, and hospitality that goes beyond the ordinary.

Our hard work has paid off; we are now top-rated on TripAdvisor and have hosted thousands of guests over the years, and we’re even prouder that so many keep coming back.

From sunrise yoga to golden hour surf sessions, the Amayour story continues to grow - one guest, one wave, and one moonlit night at a time.
